Welcome to the first day of the April AtoZ Challenge 2018! Up first, here is the spacey Aldebaran and Antares by Filipino professional artist Yela Gatchalian-David, posting as Antarel.
Yela captions this, “A collab artwork of sorts with my significant other,” and from some of the comments I believe she’s implying these are their OCs. I love the design of the dragons, the color pallet, and the background yin/yang symbol and constellation — there’s a lot to look at in this work!
Yela is a prolific professional artist, and in her Deviant Art profile she comments:
I guess it goes without saying that I am better known here as Antarel-who-does-Pokémon-fanart, but I’m really a digital artist who is currently working freelance for board game illustrations. I formerly worked with in a video game studio and helped with projects ranging from Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, Part II to in-house first-person shooters.
Make sure to check out her amazing gallery and the scraps album where you’ll find her gijinka Pokemon fanart, and you can also follow her on Facebook to hear about her current projects and convention appearances!
I’m keeping it simple this year with my theme of “Odds and Ends Dragons” — amazing artwork by artists I’ve come across in past searches, but wasn’t able to find a spot for at the time. Read more at my Theme Post.
All of these AtoZ posts should appear around 9:05 AM CT (-5 GMT) each day Monday through Saturday, with this post the only one to appear on a Sunday. For even more dragons, check out my 2016 and 2017 posts!
Thanks for reading, take care, and stay creative!

I really like them! Antares is probably my favorite star (do people have favorite stars?…). And you are right, there is a lot to look at in this picture. 🙂
Happy A to Z!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy AtoZ to you as well! I’ve always been partial to the stars in Orion’s belt, tho not enough to know their names I guess, lol. 😁

That is amazing artwork. I can see how she’d get a lot of work from customers like board games. She definitely sees things creatively.

Thanks for stopping by! I also love the straight lines in the dark half versus the wavy lines in the light half. It’s all really great. 😁
