Right now, I am very annoyed, and I found the perfect image to go with my mood called Pudge, the Ever Annoyed Dragon, by American deviantartist Katie, posting as Dragoniangirl.  Let me regale you with my tale of woe, and then go back to the Neeka chapter that is also currently vexing me, but that I’m determined to post by Thursday.

I adore Pokemon Go, as I’m sure you know by now.  In fact, my husband and I had a great time last night wandering around a park near our house, right by the river, with a beautiful view of downtown, hanging out with about 100+ other people and catching Pokemon for more than an hour.  It was awesome to get some exercise and fresh air and just hang out together.

But fast forward to today.  After work, I sat down to do some writing and blogging at my local watering hole, which just happens to also be a PokeStop.  (Hey, I can multitask!  Hang on a sec while I catch this Zubat…)  So I decided, you know what?  I very, very, rarely spend real money on mobile app games, but this one is special, and I have $10 to spare in my (digital) pocket.  I might as well spring for a couple lures, just to set down when I’m in a writing groove.

I’ve never played Candy Crush, but I have a friend who told me she has thrown hundreds of dollars at that game, and that boggles my mind.  I did spend about $20 on one game last year called Angry Birds Epic, but only after I’d been playing it non-stop for almost a year before that.  (And while I still have that game installed, I haven’t touched it in months, to be honest.)

And of course, I’m still, STILL playing the mobile game that I completely started by accident called DragonVale.  It’s fun, but I don’t have to give that game any money, and I won’t.  So back to Pokemon, and why I’m annoyed.

I went to the PokeShop and gave them my $10, to get 1,200 PokeCoins, so I could spend 200 on a Backpack Upgrade (to hold a few more Pokeballs), and then 620 on eight lures, which will keep me happy for a week or more.

But when I hit the Backpack Upgrade, it thought about it for a moment….. and suddenly, I was missing 600 coins!  It had suddenly charged me for (and given me) THREE backpack upgrades, which means I can now hold WAY more than I need to, thank you very much, but that also means I don’t have enough to get my lures anymore!

So, long story…. still long, I now don’t have my lures, and I have backpack space I don’t want to use, but I did write a slightly annoyed (but polite, I believe) message to Google/Niantic through their “report” button about the screw up, and hopefully this gets fixed soon.  And I also have a blog post for today, so I guess I can’t be that upset.

I’d wear that, for sure!  I don’t know if she won or not, but either way, it’s a great design.

Katie has lots more great images in her gallery, but there was one more that I really loved and had to share today — it hits a bit close to home for me, I have to admit!  This one is called Novel, and it does have dragons in the background.

You’re probably wondering what this has to do with “Novel”. These are all characters from the three books I’m working on.

… Well, was working on. That is until I came to college and hit a major writers’ block. So when I was looking over my list of words [for a 100 Picture Drawing Challenge] and saw “Novel,” this was the first image that popped into my mind: characters from my books sitting around playing cards waiting for me to get back to their stories.

I think this is so great!  Of course, Azur and Kite and Wren and Pippet don’t have any sort of card game they could play, as they’re from a pre-agricultural society, but I’m sure they have other things they could be doing to occupy their time while they sit around waiting for me to get back to them.
