I have always wanted to write a book about dragons, ever since I fell in love with Anne MacCaffrey’s Pern series when I was young.  I developed the idea for what I call my YA Dragons Trilogy over the last few years, and I’ve completed the outline of the first book, Finding Dragons, chapter-by-chapter.  My goal was to complete make significant progress on the first draft by the end of 2016, although I discovered that I really enjoy blogging, which has ironically taken my focus away from the book itself.

Finding Dragons is the story of a group of young people who leave their nomadic hunter-gatherer society to find out what has happened to the dragons that have disappeared in the last few generations.  Along the way they’ll meet a whole cast of characters who come from very different backgrounds; they’ll face tough challenges and devastating setbacks; and they’ll eventually uncover a secret that will change their world forever.

I’ve posted an early draft of the first chapter in three parts, to give you an idea of the world and the characters I’m writing about, although now these segments are just background and I plan to rewrite the actual first chapter.  Enjoy!
