We’ve reached the halfway point in the April AtoZ Challenge 2018, so according to  the Hero’s Journey, we’ve reached the abyss, the point of death and rebirth — so I’ve found the perfect dragon for the occasion, called Malassa – Dragon of Darkness by Ukranian professional artist Ilona Tsymbal, posting as Tira-Owl.

This is a fanart by Ilona of a dragon from the Heroes of Might and Magic video game franchise,  and according to the Wiki for this dragon:

The Dragon of Darkness is the Faceless Foe, the Slithering Shadow with a hundred faces and a thousand whispers. … She has always been here and there, watching from close or afar, drinking the words and screams of the mortal races. In her abyssal womb lie all the forgotten memories and the buried secrets of the past… … Secrets that the wicked try to bury, Malassa covets and keeps.

Yeesh, creepy!!  And I definitely think this scary dragon lives up to its reputation.  You can follow Ilona on Facebook, and find more dragons and awesome artwork in her gallery, including a selection of custom Magic: The Gathering token card artwork she created for GnD Cards — including this Bird of Paradise that earned her a coveted Daily Deviation last year!

I’m keeping it simple this year with my theme of “Odds and Ends Dragons” — amazing artwork by artists I’ve come across in past searches, but wasn’t able to find a spot for at the time.  Read more at my Theme Post.

All of these AtoZ posts should appear around 9:05 AM CT (-5 GMT) each day Monday through Saturday — Remember, no post on Sundays!  For even more dragons, check out my 2016 and 2017 posts!

Thanks for reading, take care, and stay creative!
