AtoZ 2018 – I is for Ink Dragon III by Rubis Firenos

Ink Dragon III by RubisFirenos

Let’s keep it flowing in the April AtoZ Challenge 2018, like the watercolors and inks making up this Ink Dragon III by French professional artist Rubis Firenos.

As you can probably guess from the title, this is the third of a series of Ink Dragons by this artist — check out the first here, and the second here — and it was hard to decide on one, but I liked the blues and the swoop of the wings in this one.

Rubis has coined and copy written the term of art O Ka-Fée, which is a style of painting she’s developed using coffee as one of the mediums.  She writes:

The coffee is a rather complex medium has to master, it’s necessary to know its reactions to be able to manipulate it with pigments, we learn it every day.   O Ka-Fée also concern my graphic style and the whole universe which gets free of it.

I love her work, and she even has a lovely The Last Unicorn O Ka Fée piece that I’d love to show you someday if you don’t click there now, so look for her to show up (and even become a favorite perhaps!) here on my blog again soon!  You can check out her amazing gallery, follow her on Tumblr, and support her art through her Society6 shop.

I’m keeping it simple this year with my theme of “Odds and Ends Dragons” — amazing artwork by artists I’ve come across in past searches, but wasn’t able to find a spot for at the time.  Read more at my Theme Post.

All of these AtoZ posts should appear around 9:05 AM CT (-5 GMT) each day Monday through Saturday.  For even more dragons, check out my 2016 and 2017 posts!

Thanks for reading, take care, and stay creative!

  1. Oh may goodness, this is so beautifu!
I dont’ think I’ve ever seen watercolour dragens, maybe because the power of the dragon doesn’t seem to go well with the softness of the watercolour. But this one is fantastic!

    • Wow, that dragon print is awesome, and even tho jumping into the middle of a story is blasphemy, I almost couldn’t stop reading that chapter! Now I’ll have to start at the beginning when I have some more time. 🙂 So glad you found my site so I could find yours back!
