Today’s picture isn’t an actual dragon, I guess, but I really loved this artwork, and it gives me a chance to be even more geeky than usual as I talk about my weekend.
This Dragon Amulet comes from an expansion called The Dragon for the Fantasy Flight Games board game Talisman: The Magical Quest Game. It was created by U.S. artist Felicia Cano and found on her deviantart site.
My friends and I got together for a game of Talisman on Saturday night, as we hadn’t played it in awhile. I can’t say it’s one of my favorites among the many, many board games my friends and I play on a regular basis, but we had a good time. We only have one of the many expansions for the game, just the Frostmarch which adds some cards, not board pieces, so maybe I’ll have to look into this Dragon expansion. You can read a good review of the original game here.
Board games — the ultimate geek party! Just be careful, because some of them, like the Firefly board game which I love, can take all day, so plan accordingly. Talisman took us about four hours with 4-5 people. I would say check it out if you’re looking for a new game, as the mechanics are easy to pick up, there’s a variety of characters to choose from, and all of the art is lovely.
Tune in tomorrow for another Discover Challenge and snippet about Neeka, and meanwhile, stay creative everyone!

Looks like a fun game! I wish we played more boardgames at home.

It’s never too late to start! And we’ve come a long way from Monopoly and Candy Land. Maybe start with something shorter though — oh, I found a great article, check it out! http://geekandsundry.com/10-great-games-for-tabletop-beginners/

Thanks! It’s funny, we had 221 B Baker St. when I was a kid – about 40 years ago! We sometimes play Munchkins.. my 14 year old always wins.
