“Write what you would love to read. Finish what you begin to write. Your voice is uniquely yours and we are all waiting to hear it.”
~ Jody Lynn Nye
This is a wonderful bit of inspiration from Jody Lynn Nye, the author of one of my favorite books growing up — The Dragonlover’s Guide to Pern. From the Pern Wiki itself: “Written by Jody Lynn Nye in collaboration with Anne McCafrey, ‘The Dragonlover’s Guide to Pern’ is a companion book to the Pern series that contains facts and other interesting insights into the planet of Pern and its inhabitants.” Originally published in 1989, an updated second edition was published in 1997.
I found the image of Nye’s quote, written on her own hand, at the website for the Shared Worlds teen writing conference at Wofford College in Spartansburg, South Carolina. It’s a “Program Designed For Teen Writers [ages 13-17] Interested in Today’s Hottest Fantasy Fiction Genres,” taking place for the eighth year this July.
For their 2013 conference, they “asked some of speculative fiction’s finest artists, editors, and writers to write advice on their own hands and send us a picture,” creating a gallery of inspiration and awesomeness that you can see by clicking on that link. Although, don’t be surprised if a few more of these pop up in future Wednesday posts.
That’s it for me today, stay creative everyone!!

Cool information. You have an excellent site! I adore dragons, and they are featured prominently in my book(although they are more dinosaurian, as I believe that dragon myths were inspired by dinosaurs that survived the extinction).
