Two days left, and “inspiration” strikes…

Good Idea Fairy

Two days to go until I’m supposed to put down this chapter and move on to the next.  Two.  Days.  So, I know — why don’t I just completely rewrite the chapter instead??  Brilliant!

In order to keep on schedule with my grand plan to finish the first draft by the end of the year, I need to move on to the next thing on Saturday.  I could see the finish line looming: I had finished the crazy descriptions of the dark ritual, I knew the last scene I had to write to be done with the chapter, it was all coming together.

But then I thought about maybe sharing it with the world, and it made me reconsider — not doubt, it was measured reconsideration about the way I want to tell this story — if I was really doing justice to my protagonist by leaving her out of what could arguably be part of her “Call to Action” moment.

Looking back on it, I understand why I originally wrote it the way I did, but now moving pieces around, adding things, using much of what I’d already written but changing the point of view — it’s really working, and I’m pretty sure it’s the way I want to go now.

It’s just a shame I had this shock of inspiration now, instead of two weeks ago!!

Well, who knows, maybe it’ll work out like some of my homework assignments and I’ll write a fabulous 15-page paper in two days full of awesomeness and rainbows. I’ll be sure to let you know.  Thanks for reading!

(Also, because so many have said it more eloquently than me today, I’ll simply add a quick R.I.P. Alan Rickman, and leave it at that.)
