AtoZ 2018 – W is for Wrath of the Dragon by Natalia P. Gutiérrez

Who’s fired up as we approach the finish line of the April AtoZ Challenge 2018!  This is the letter I made it to last year, so I’d better keep going, lest I suffer the Wrath of the Dragon, like in this piece by Spanish professional artist Natalia P. Gutiérrez, posting as VampirePrincess007.

This is such an awesome scene of a battlefield, and I can’t decide which interpretation I like better — is the huge dragon so powerful that the mage in the foreground is calling Meteor Swarm, but the dragon is unaffected?  OR, does that dragon have mage levels itself, and the meteors are its wrath?

I also love the small details, such as the many smaller dragons flying about, and the warrior fighting the dragon on the lower right, and even the lighting detail of the meteor that’s about to impact the ground on the lower left.  Definitely click to see the larger version to take it all in!

Natalia’s work is so epic, it’s often stolen and posted all over the internet with no artist credit, just like sandara, another famous artist that I’ve featured many times.  So take a spin through her amazing gallery — you’ll be surprised what you’ll recognize!

You can also find her 3D work at her ArtStation page, where she’s just started blogging about her art — and her first post is about a Harry Potter piece featuring the basilisk and Fawkes!  Also be sure to check out her piece Beneath the Waves – ‘The Mother’ that recently won first place in an artist’s challenge!

I’m keeping it simple this year with my theme of “Odds and Ends Dragons” — amazing artwork by artists I’ve come across in past searches, but wasn’t able to find a spot for at the time.  Read more at my Theme Post.

All of these AtoZ posts should appear around 9:05 AM CT (-5 GMT) each day Monday through Saturday.  For even more dragons, check out my 2016 and 2017 posts!

Thanks for reading, take care, and stay creative!
